Real Men Hunt Hogs
Just the words “Let’s go hog hunting” gets our juices flowing here at Real Men Prey. Of all the prey to hunt, why do hogs get us so excited? Wild hogs are great eating…I mean who doesn’t like bacon? Plus, they are a nuisance, so it’s good to thin ‘em down. And hogs are super smart and fierce. They test the hunter and make the hunt more intense and interesting. In addition, they make great wall mounts with all those tusks! You can have a truly badass man room with one of these guys hanging on the wall.
Hunting feral hogs is not only exciting, it’s necessary! Wild hogs are destructive to roads, crops and animals. Their tusks cut everything they touch and are commonly called “cutters”. And they reproduce like crazy! Population management uses hunting to mange the ever-growing hog numbers in the US. Their destructive and aggressive nature forces other animals such as deer, turkeys and squirrels into competition with them and they ruin the habitat for all.
Hog hunting comes in many forms including guided hunts, aerial hunts via helicopter or even hot air balloon, and high-tech hunting but our favorite is bow hunting. Bow hunting wild hogs is not for the faint-of-heart. Feral hogs are extremely tough and in certain situations can be dangerous. Sure, a bear is better able to put the hurt on you, but a 200 lb hog charging you at close range will definitely get your heart pumping. Which means you had better be camouflaged well! So, grab your bow and head deep into the woods to enjoy the quiet solitude of nature while you stalk your prey. Then bag that hog so you can fill your freezer with loads of bacon! C’mom….BACON!
